Hello, friends! I am excited to share my cards featuring the May 2024 Spellbinders Monthly Clubs!  This month’s kits have a tropical theme, and I had so much fun playing! There are flamingos, toucans, parrots (or parakeets?), and so much more. I really think this month’s kits are going to be very popular, so if you’re interested in joining this month, order soon before the inventory disappears. One of my favorite aspects of the Spellbinders clubs is that you can cancel at any time. If you don’t like the club kit next month, just cancel it! The subscription window for new members ends on the 27th of the month, assuming that the club kit(s) has not already sold out.

For today’s cards, I will be using the Large Die of the Month and the Small Die of the Month . I am not sure which one I love more, but the toucan in the Small Die kit might just sway me towards that one! But only ever so slightly.

All of the clubs this month are so good, that you might be interested in the Deluxe Caboodle Value Club. This club is offered at an exceptional value and includes all ten clubs PLUS a bonus item. For May, there are actually TWO bonus items – the Tropical Sentiments BetterPress Plates and the Tropical Bloom Stencil. These bonus items are only available to members of this Deluxe Club. I did not use those bonus items today.

Let’s get to the cards that I made! I have a new video sharing the process for each card. You can CLICK HERE to view on YouTube or watch it below.

Note: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

For my first card, I used the the Large Die of the Month to create the beautiful flamingo and flowers. All of my cards today feature simple ink blending that anyone can do. Although it’s simple, it really steps things up. I added just the simplest of ink blending to the flowers from this month’s kit, but it’s the soft, blended background that steals the show, I think. I used some new black glitter cardstock for the leaves. The sentiment is a hot-foiled sentiment that I grabbed from my stash – one of the many reasons that I like to hot foil a bunch of things at once! I used opaque black foil for this one.

My second card could not have been any easier to make. And look how cute it is! I made a toucan with the Small Die of the Month , added a little bit of blue shading to create the horizon line, and then stamped the adorable sentiment. This is from the Color Me Happy stamp set from Concord & 9th. I used a scallop die for my card panel.

Last, but not least, is this card that I made with elements from both the Small and Large Die kits. You can see that I added ink blending to just about every die cut on this card. I do sometimes love the clean and simple look of not adding shading, but I think this card really benefited from it. I am really happy with how it turned out, although if you watch my video, I was being very indecisive with how to arrange all of those tropical leaves! If there’s one thing I don’t like about this month’s kits, it’s that I have so many more ideas and just not enough time.

And speaking of not enough time, one of the elements on this card came from a die set that I’ve been meaning to use – the A2 Gift Card Holder and Envelope Die Set. That set comes with some word dies, and that is where the “birthday” sentiment on my card comes from. I know what I want to do with that die set – now I just need to find the time.

I hope these cards bring a smile to your face today. They certainly made me smile. It was so good to be able to find time to play with these kits. As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison

  1. Love these fun and colorful cards. Great video, too. Thanks for the tip about coloring small pieces like eyes and cheeks instead of always cutting them out of scraps. Thanks for the great inspiration!
