Hello, friends! I hope you have all been doing well and enjoying springtime. I know that it has been awhile since you have heard from me. I have been very busy the past month or so preparing to move my parents to Colorado to be near me. The past two weeks especially have been very busy and exhausting, but my parents are finally here, and I am happy that they are just a short walk from my house.

Before all the moving chaos began, the kind folks at Your Paper Insider  sent me their Box #7 , and I had started making several cards with some of the gorgeous specialty papers. Your Paper Insider offers a subscription-based service where they send you a box of curated paper four times a year. Box #7 is shipping now! You can also buy the previous boxes, as well as some of the individual packs of specialty paper, which I think is really great.

I have a new video where I show the contents of Box #7, as well as the making of my cards. You can view that below or head directly over to YouTube

Note: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

My first card features the amazing Smoke Diamond Glitter Cardstock. I used it for the focal point of my card, which is the Oversized Hey Hi Hello Die from Waffle Flower. This cardstock die cut beautifully, and I love that there are other colors available outside of the box subscription. The background is something that I had made last year. It has been sitting in my stash because I hadn’t found the inspiration to use it yet, until I got this cardstock. I had created the background with Nuvo Shimmer Powders and the fun Parallelogram Cling Stamp from Simon Says Stamp.

My second card features the gorgeous Rainbow Gradient Foil Cardstock. One of my favorite ways to use this kind of cardstock is to emboss it and then sand down the raised edges to reveal the white core of the paper. It really tones down the shine, while still revealing all of the magic the paper has to offer. For this card, I used the Cheery Snowflakes Embossing Folder from Simon Says Stamp. It’s never too early to start on those holiday cards! The perfect focal point for this card is the All Is Bright Die from Papertrey Ink.

My next card has no shortage of shine, that’s for sure. It features one of the coolest papers from Box #7 – the Silver Holographic Orbs. No photograph can do this paper justice, so definitely check out the video to see what this paper does when you move it. It’s mesmerizing and almost shapeshifting! This paper would be fun for a word die, but I chose to use it as the card base. To tone it down, I added a vellum panel on top (the vellum was also from Box #7). But, I added some more shine and glitter on top of the vellum with the Big Birthday Wishes Die-namics from My Favorite Things. The purple glitter is from Box #7, and the shiny foil paper that I used for the word “birthday” was from Box #5! I used a similar foil paper from my stash for the word “wishes.” The overall effect of the Silver Holographic Orbs border, which doesn’t come across in the photo, is almost like marquee lights.

My last card was somewhat inspired by the blue glitter card stock that was in Box #7. My friend’s daughter is graduating from University of Florida, and she wanted a special card to give her. I had made this background with the Grad Caps Stencil right before opening Box #7, but I hadn’t really decided what I was going to do with it yet. I ended up using the glitter paper as the accent on the Grad Hat die, as well as the Grad Word die. I also used some orange cardstock from the box to create the frame for my shaker. The frame is from the A7 Stitched Rectangles Die set from Waffle Flower, so this card is 5×7. Finally, I used more of the orange paper to create sub sentiments and an insert for the inside of my card. I used sentiments from the Grad Party Stamp Set for those. By the way, this whole group of graduation products from CZ Design are my favorite because they’re so easy to customize with school colors! Fun fact: UF is where I graduated with my bachelor and master of accounting degrees!

That’s it for my cards today! I love getting new paper to play with, as it always gives me some much-needed inspiration. I was also inspired to pull out some embellishments from my drawer that I had never used before, and that is always a good thing! I hope these cards bring a smile to your face. As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
