Hello, friends! I hope you had a great weekend. I found some time to do some relaxing watercoloring, as well as play with some new tools from Spellbinders

I have a new video today where I share both of these cards and all of the new goodies. You can view that video below or you can view it directly on YouTube

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

My first card features the Candy Hearts cling stamp from the House-Mouse Winter Collection. I used watercolor paper from Spellbinders and my large water media mat. I also used the new Water Brush Set to apply my Distress Inks. I love coloring with my Distress Inks, since it offers such a broad color palette. If you’re interested, I used the following colors for this card:

  • Mouse: Frayed Burlap, Pumice Stone, Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo
  • Candy: Scattered Straw/Fossilized Amber; Kitsch Flamingo/Picked Raspberry/Festive Berries; Cracked Pistachio/Evergreen Bough; Salvaged Patina/Mermaid Lagoon
  • Ground: Pumice Stone, Weathered Wood

To create my top panel, I first used the new 1-2 Punch to create the rounded corners on an A2 sized panel of the watercolor paper. I then took some of my ZIG Clean Color Water Brush Markers, scribbled them on the panel and used one of the water brushes to create the ombre effect. I used the following ZIG colors: 202 and 003. I cut the heart into the panel using one of the dies from the Essential Hearts die set. I then popped the panel up on foam tape to create some dimension between the top panel and the painted image.

My second card features the adorable Snuggle Up cling stamp. I painted the image with the following Distress Ink colors:

  • Mice: Frayed Burlap, Pumice Stone, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo
  • Leaves: Shabby Shutter, Twisted Citron, Forest Moss, Rustic Wilderness
  • Sky (that you can barely see): Speckled Egg, Salvaged Patina

I painted the top panel in the same way as the first card. For the panel, I used the following ZIG colors: 400, 033, 042, and 036. I also used the same set of heart dies to cut the opening in the top panel. The sentiments on both cards come from the Candy Hearts stamp set. I stamped them with VersaMark ink onto black card stock and then heat embossed with a cream-colored embossing powder. I like using this instead of white embossing powder when I have off-white features on my cards.

I hope these cards put a smile on your face today! Leave me a comment and let me know which one is your favorite. As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
