UPDATE JUNE 5, 2024

Waffle Flower has updated its grip mats to include some new sizes and a change to the printed guides. The new ones work the exact same way as the originals. I have updated the thumbnail links below to reflect the updated products.

Hello, friends! Waffle Flower has a pretty exciting set of products in its July release – the new Grip Mats! If you’re familiar with Waffle Flower, then you know about their silicone media and stencil mats. I use these a LOT in my crafting. These new grip mats are just as versatile and unique to the market as the silicone mats. The new mats are made from high quality photopolymer – the same material that clear stamps are made from. There are six sizes of mats that you can buy individually. There are also two bundles at the Waffle Flower store that will save you 10% or 15%.

I spent hours “playing” and testing out these mats, and I discovered a lot of ways that I will be using them in my craft room going forward. I put together a video sharing my top ten ways to use these mats, and I hope you’ll watch. You can view the video below or head over to YouTube.

Note: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

While the focus of my video was to show you how I put these Grip Mats to use, I did end up making cards using some of the techniques that I was playing with. Details for those cards are below for anyone who’s interested.

My first card features the Popcorn Stamp/Die/Stencil Combo from Waffle Flower. Stenciling the little popcorn box and popcorn pieces was the first way that I tested out the grip mats. I also stamped the sentiments by replacing the foam insert in my Mini MISTI with a grip mat. The “hi” sentiment comes from the CZ Design Hi There Greetings Set. I created the little film strip using the Window Trio 1 Die. I first cut a piece of black card stock the same size as the die and then cut it out. I backed it with a piece of white card stock. I stenciled the blue background using the Whole Lot of Polka Dots Stencil from Picket Fence Studios, as well as the Stencil Extender.

This sweet shaker card was fun to make because I discovered that you can use the 6×6 Grip Mat and the rotation guide from the Grip Mat Guides Trio 1 set for Turnaboutâ„¢ stamps from Concord & 9th. I used the In the Garden Turnaboutâ„¢ stamp. The watering can and tiny flowers come from the Friendship Garden Dies set. The larger flower die cuts come from the Waffle Flower Sweet Daisy Dies. The sentiments and matching dies are from the Honey Bee Stamps Get Well Soon sets.

My third card features products from Pinkfresh Studio. I first did some “off the edge” stamping with this large Floral Notes Stamp, using one of the grip mats in my MISTI. I then stenciled it using the largest grip mat. The “friend” die is from the Phrase Builder Hello Die Set. I used the Blanket Stitched Rectangle set to add interest to the card. I used my Pinkfresh Studio inks for the stenciling, and I finished the card with my Pinkfresh Studio jewels

If you watched my video, then you know that I made another shaker card, using the fun Layered Party Hats Stencil Set from Pretty Pink Posh. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it before giving it to the little birthday boy who lives next door. Oops! You can see that finished card at the end of my video. I used the 6×6 Grip Mat to stencil the design. I used the A2 Shaker Covers from Waffle Flower to create the shaker.

I hope these cards put a smile on your face today, and I hope you were able to watch the video to see how I incorporated the techniques that I used with the new Grip Mats. There are a lot more amazing products in the Waffle Flower July Release, including a bit of Christmas in July, so be sure to check out the full release! As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog today.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
