Hello, crafty friends! I am popping in today to share a new embossing folder from Altenew’s May release – the Lace Topped Petals 3D Embossing Folder. I love this folder – I think it’s so versatile. It is great as a textured background, or it can be the main attraction! In my video today, I share a couple quick and easy techniques for inking up your 3D embossing folders.

Both of my cards today feature the new Lace Topped Petals 3D Embossing Folder. For my first card, I embossed a panel of dark blue card stock and then swiped a pad of white pigment ink over it. To knock down some of the contrast, I then ink blended some Desert Night Fresh Dye Ink over the panel.
The die cut flowers are from the Sweet Sugar Cookies Layering Die Set. I did not realize that these had recently sold out, but just think of all the die cut flowers that would look great with this embossing folder! The word die comes from the Versatile Greetings die set. I added a small subsentiment below it, which comes from the Build-A-Garden: Garland Grace. For the finishing touch, I added enamel dots to the center of the flowers on the panel as well as to the center of the die cut flowers.
For my second card, I inked up the actual embossing folder, as opposed to the panel itself. I inked the side of the folder with the raised edges, placed a piece of white card stock in it, and then ran it through my die cutting machine. With this technique, the ink gets pressed into the card stock, so you end up with the debossed side. This is such a fun background, that I decided to keep the card simple. Simple with a little bling, as I used some blue glitter card stock with the Timeless Sentiments Die Set. The subsentiment comes from the Build-A-Garden: Dreamy Dahlias set. And once again, I added some enamel dots to the center of the flowers.
