Hello, friends! I have a really fun gatefold card to share today. But, it’s not just a regular gatefold card. It’s an interlocking gatefold card. Oh, and it’s a shaker, too! I made a similar card several years ago, and when I saw the new Peeking Duck die in the You Are My Favorite Release from Simon Says Stamp, I knew it was time to make another one. This duck is similar to some of the other “peeking” dies that Simon offers. You can CLICK HERE to see a bunch of the other ones that they have.
I do have a new video showing how I made the card. You can CLICK HERE to view it on YouTube, or you can view it below.

Because of the nature of this card, I think watching the video is far more valuable than reading instructions. So, I’m going to keep the descriptions brief here and mainly point out what I used to make the card. After creating the gatefold card base from a turquoise piece of cardstock, I stenciled the front with the Bubble Wrap Stencil and some white pigment ink. I set that aside to dry and started on the shaker component. I used a circle die that is slightly larger than the Peeking Duck die and used the two dies together to cut the duck. I used the same circle die along with a circle die one size smaller to create rings that would create the “well” for the shaker beads. The circle dies are part of my Nesting Circle Infinity Dies from Hero Arts, which I use all the time.
To create the interlocking feature of this card, I needed to create a larger ring that the duck would fit through. Instead of using two circle dies to create the ring, I took the easy road and used the Nesting Circle Frames Dies from Waffle Flower. The purple ring with the sentiment is also from that set. The sentiment itself is from the Happy Faces Stamp Set from Simon, but sadly I think this set may be retired.
For the inside of the card, I used the Birthday Basics Stamp Set for the sentiment. I cut the white panel with the new A2 Rectangles set. Just like the nesting circles set that I mentioned above, it is so useful to have a rectangular nesting set, as well.
By the way, this is the card that I made a “few” years ago. Turns out it was in 2020. Time flies! I was so proud of this card, and I’m happy that I finally made another one.
I hope these cards bring a smile to your face today. As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog. Be sure to visit Simon’s website to check out the entire You Are My Favorite Release.
Wishing you all a crafty day,
Allison
