Hello, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I have been working on a lot of stuff that I hope to share soon, but I’ve also been taking little breaks here and there when I seem to hit creative blocks. When that happens, I like to reach for products that are easy to make beautiful cards with. I made two cards yesterday that feature butterflies from the recent Butterfly Blossom Release from Waffle Flower. I also have a card at the end of this post featuring a beautiful butterfly from Poppystamps

The main products that I used for my cards today include:

My first card features both the Butterfly Focal Die. as well as some smaller butterflies from the Butterfly Blossom Die set. I colored the larger butterfly with the matching Butterfly Focal Stencil and Pinkfresh Studio inks (Sky Blue and Summer Shower). The stencil and die come as a combo (at a discount) , or they are available separately. For the smaller butterflies, I used the detail stencil from the Butterfly Blossom Coloring Stencil set.  I used Pinkfresh Studio Limoncello and Citron for the yellow butterflies and Candy Violet for the purple butterflies. It’s easy to get a darker color from just one ink by blending more layers or using a heavier hand. As for coloring all of these elements, I used my favorite sized grip mat, the 7.5×11, because it has room for both the stencil and my ink pads. For the bodies of the butterflies, I used black glitter card stock.

The background for this card is the Tiny Diamonds Die. I cut it from white card stock, glued it to another piece of white card stock and then glued that onto a white A2 card base. For the sentiment, I used the Paper Hug Sentiments Combo, which includes the stamp set and matching dies. These are available separately, as well. I used black pigment ink to stamp the sentiment. Finally, I added some small black enamel dots around the design.

My second card features the Butterfly Focal Die. I did add the smallest butterflies from the Butterfly Blossom Die set, which I cut out of vellum. I again colored the butterfly with the matching stencil. I used Distress Inks in the following colors: Mustard Seed, Kitsch Flamingo and Spiced Marmalade. For the final detail stencil, I used Lunar Paste (Slippery When Wet). I love the sparkle and shine that this adds! I cut the body out of gold glitter card stock to tie in with that sparkle.

For my background, I used the Daisy Background Stencil.  I made an ombre blend using Distress Inks in the following colors: Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber. Because I blended this on white card stock, the resulting contrast between the white lines of the flowers and the design was a bit more than I wanted. So, I came back in with the Squeezed Lemonade and lightly blended that over the entire panel. When I was finished, I also blended some of the Fossilized Amber around all four edges. For the sentiment, I used the Paper Hug Sentiments Combo again. This time I stamped the sentiment with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. This is such an easy alternative to colored embossing powders! To finish the card, I scattered some clear drops around the design.

Speaking of butterflies, here is another butterfly card that I made recently that I absolutely love. What can I say? Butterflies make me happy!

This card features some of the Nordic dies from Poppystamps, which are some of my all-time favorite dies. The background is the Nordic Floral Plate. There are several cutout pieces on this plate, which give so many design possibilities. I popped out the larger pieces and then saved some of the smaller pieces to glue back in. The background behind the plate is a pale pink glitter cardstock. The butterfly is the gorgeous Nordic Floral Butterfly. This one is currently sold out, but there are two other Nordic butterflies that would work the same on this card, including one of my go-to’s, the Nordic Spectacular Butterfly. I used three different colors of card stock for this butterfly, which would be the same if I had used the Nordic Spectular one instead. The sentiment is the Freestyle Hello die, which I cut out of black glossy card stock. This comes with a shadow die, as well, which I did not use. I also cut the body of the butterfly out of the same black glossy card stock.

I hope these cards bring a smile to your face today. As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
