Hello, friends! I have been having fun with the new Happier Hour Collection from Spellbinders. Pairing it with other collections has proven to be so easy and fun, and I’m sharing a couple cards where I did just that.

Today’s cards feature the following products from the October Spellbinders collections:

This idea came to me as I was playing with the little avocado from the Sip Sip Ole’ Die Set. I added legs and arms to him, along with a few friends from the Ingredients Buddies die set. The legs on the tomato actually come from the Pasta Friends die set, and they crack me up! The sombrero also comes from the Sip Sip Ole’ set. The fun stitching at the bottom is courtesy of the new Tangled Threads set from the new Beautifully Imperfect collection. I thought it mimicked the details on the sombrero, and it’s just a fun detail. There are a bunch of other great “thread” shapes in that set that I look forward to incorporating into cards. The letters come from an old favorite of mine – the Be Bold Lowercase Alphabet die set. For a final detail, I added a few musical notes from the Classic Mouse Borders, which has proven to be so useful. Who knew that musical notes were such a perfect embellishment??

I shared this card the other day and mentioned that I would share the details at a later time. I had planned on doing a video for these cards, and I may still try to incorporate them somewhere, but in case I don’t, I wanted to share the details now. This is where I originally started playing around with the avocado from the Sip Sip Ole’ set. It is so cute, and I’m probably not done playing with it! Of course, it’s a lot cuter when you add a face to it. The facial features do not come with that set – I created them myself. I needed smaller eyes for it, and I found them with one of the dies from the Tangled Threads set. And what about the mouth? Well, I discovered the perfect size mouth when I was going to die cut this snowman. The snowman is from the North Pole Sentiments set. In that set are a bunch of sentiment strips that cut out letters. For the letter “O”, the cutout comes in two pieces. And one of those pieces became the mouth for Mr. Avocado! The snowman is wearing the sombrero from the Sip Sip Ole’ set, and he just loves his little stuffed avocado. Santa must have brought it to him for being such a good snowman.

The sentiment is from the new Spanish Holiday Sentiments set, which is really what inspired the entire card. I wanted to make it look like a stamp, so I used the Nested Postage Labels & Tag die set. The background, which I die cut using one of the dies from that postage set, comes from the Stampendous Winter Splash Quick Card Backgrounds. These used to be available on the Spellbinders website. You might still be able to find these elsewhere – maybe on Amazon. But, they definitely live up to their name and make a quick card background! By the way, this card is larger than A2 (my standard size) – it is 5″ x 6.25″.

I hope these cards bring a big smile to your face today. As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
