Spellbinders Warehouse Sale:
Spellbinders has been having a huge warehouse sale, and it ends tomorrow, April 24th. There is still time to get deals as low as $1!
I do have a new video showing how I made my card today. You can CLICK HERE to watch on YouTube, or you can view below.
NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.
My card today features two products from the Jump for Joy Collection – the Frog Prince die set and the Jump for Joy Sentiments. The sentiment set actually includes some images as well, and that’s how I got my idea for creating this scene. I used the Cattails image and repeatedly stamped it on my card panel. I used Cosmic Sky Colorwheel Cardstock from Spellbinders, and I chose a very similar ink color to stamp the image. I used Blue Jay ink from Pinkfresh Studio and stamped twice to make it darker. Once I was finished stamping, I felt like it needed a little bit more, so I took a blue Copic marker and filled in the stamped areas. And that was it! That’s how I created this subtle night scene for my frog. After all, most frogs are active at night, right? I did forget to mention in my video that I added a few leaves at the bottom of the panel to fill in some empty spaces. I just created these freehand.
For my frog, mushroom and flower die cuts, I did come in with a slightly darker ink (Stargazer) and hit just the edges of the die cuts. I didn’t want them to be so bright. For my mushroom, you can watch in the video how I cut a slit for the stem to fit in. I love how it ended up looking!
Speaking of the mushroom, I wanted to hide the bottom of the mushroom, as well as the bottom of the stems. So I decided to create a frame. I used the largest die from the Perfect Touch Rectangles set, which cuts an A2 panel with that fun detail along the border. I then took a smaller rectangle die to cut that panel, resulting in two pieces: one is the frame and another is a smaller rectangle of my paper that I can use for something else!
I stamped my sentiment on the panel with an off-white embossing powder. I like doing this when the elements on my card are off white. I know it looks white in the photo, but all of the “white” die cuts are actually off-white. The exception is the frog’s eyes, for which I did use a bright white card stock. To finish the nighttime scene, I found some tiny star embellishments in my stash.
That is it for my card today. I hope it brings a smile to your face. As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog.
Wishing you all a crafty day,
Allison
