Hello, friends! I hope you’re all doing well. Today, I am sharing a card that features the new Cascading Coneflowers collection from Spellbinders (designed by Simon Hurley). The highlight of this collection (and my card) is the Wild Coneflowers die set. As soon as I saw these flowers, I knew exactly what I wanted to do to add some realistic texture.

I started my card by cutting all the pieces for the Wild Coneflowers set. You can see in the video how I started with colored cardstock and then ink blended the bottom petals darker to add the look of dimension. I then worked on the card panel. I started with some patterned paper from Craft Consortium, which has loads of texture right off the bat. I share a couple of different paper pads in my video, but there are a lot more available from them and a lot more of their paper pads in my stash! I stenciled the panel with the new Layered Cascading Dots Stencil.
I glued the parts of the flowers together and then added the magical ingredient – Prills! Prills are like little beads, but without the holes. They come in a small bottle and vary in size. And, they are the perfect thing to add to your floral cards! It is instant, realistic looking texture. CLICK HERE to see some of the different colors that Spellbinders offers.
The bow comes from the Field Notes Twine die, and the sentiments come from the Hero Arts Hello Friend Stamp Set. To finish the card, I added a few pearl embellishments. I added the panel to a larger card base at an angle to play into the pattern that I had stenciled on an angle. The overall card measures 5″ x 6.25″ and will fit nicely into an A7 envelope.
