Hello, friends! Today, I am excited to be joining Simon Says Stamp for an Instagram Hop celebrating their new Just For You release. The release has so many amazing products, many of which are perfect for spring vibes. We are celebrating the new release with lots of fresh inspiration.

My card today features one of my favorite products from the release – the Mushroom Stems Die Set. You may recall that I shared a card in a previous blog post using this die set, and I cut it from a leftover shimmer powder background. Honestly, these mushrooms would look good no matter how you colored them! But I went back to one of my favorite ways to color die cuts, and that is ink smooshing. I just smooshed Distress Oxide inks onto my craft mat, spritzed with water, and then dragged white die cuts through it. If you dry in between, you can keep adding layers of color like I did. Here are the Distress Oxide colors that I used:
- Large Mushroom: Picked Raspberry, Festive Berries
- Medium Mushroom: Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade
- Small Mushroom: Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Festive Berries
- Stems: Hickory Smoke, Frayed Burlap
I assembled my mushrooms the same way I did for my previous card. You can see me doing that in my YouTube video HERE – just go to 13:45 in that video. To highlight my mushrooms on today’s card, I added an arched frame panel around them. I used a die from the Spellbinders Essential Arches Die Set to cut the frame in my white panel. Before attaching the frame with some foam tape, I added some soft blue ink blending onto the card base so that it gave a faint outline to the arch. I used Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide for that.
The sentiment comes from the new “Some Bunny Reverse Sentiment Strips.” To tie in the sentiment, I added some tiny hearts to the mushrooms. I cut these from white card stock using a die from the Valentine Mug Additions Die Set from Pretty Pink Posh.
