Making the First Card

The new product that I am sharing today is the Blooming Tree Hot Foil Plate & Die Set. This is a gorgeous tree that comes with a matching die, as well as a few small floral plates/dies. I foiled the tree onto some smooth white card stock with cobalt hot foil. I just love this color foil! I then colored the flowers and leaves with my Copic markers. After coloring, I cut it out with the matching die.

I took a panel of dark blue card stock and foiled the Scattered Flowers Background, again with the cobalt foil. This plate covers half of a card panel, so you do have to hot foil it twice if you want to cover the entire panel. I love the tone on tone look of this blue foil on blue paper. I was trying to tie in to the flowers in the tree, and I also thought the flowers kind of look like snowflakes. That is why I chose this particular sentiment, which I hot foiled onto red card stock. I used the same red card stock to create my card base.

After adhering the elements to the card base, I added a little flower from the Petite Floral Potpourri set to the top of the tree. I could have added a lot of elements as a tree topper, including one of the floral elements from this new set. But, I chose to go with this little flower, which kind of mimics the shape that’s in the background. I cut it out of some spare piece of paper that had been foiled with that cobalt foil. I also added a smaller die cut flower to the largest flower on the tree, and I added a tiny red gem stone to the center of both die cut flowers.

Making the Second Card

My second card is a bit more clean and simple. I hot foiled the Blooming Tree onto white card stock using matte gold foil. This is another new foil color for me, and it’s so pretty. As with my first card, I colored the flowers and leaves with my Copic markers.

Instead of cutting the tree out with the matching die and popping it up on a card panel, I decided to do the opposite and pop the top panel up over the tree. To do this, I just cut a piece of white card stock to 3.75″x5″. I used the matching die for the tree to cut the shape out of this panel. I then hot foiled the sentiment to the bottom of the panel. I popped this panel up on foam tape and laid it over the paper that I had hot foiled the tree onto. I then glued this to an A2 card base and added a few gold embellishments to the centers of the pink flowers.

I hope these cards put a smile on your face today! Be sure to check out the new collections from Spellbinders – there are so many fun new products…and more to come! Thank you so much for visiting today – I always appreciate you stopping by.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
