Making the Card

Playing with shimmer powders is really fun and easy. All you need to do is white heat emboss a background stamp onto watercolor paper. You can also use clear embossing powder, since the watercolor paper is already white. From there, all you do is sprinkle the shimmer powder onto the paper and spritz with water – the powders do the work for you.

Now, the fun of these shimmer powders is that you don’t really have much control. The problem for some people is the same – you don’t have much control! I find that, as you get comfortable with these powders, you can exert some sort of control, but only some. In this case, I turned my panel sideways and sprinkled a little bit of each color powder, going down the panel in rainbow order. I used 5 colors – Cherry Bomb, Solar Flare, Green Parade, Blue Blitz, and Violet Brocade. When I spritzed my water, I kept the panel sideways, so that each color stayed in its own lane, for the most part.

As my panel was drying, I went to work on the sentiment. To keep the shimmer panel the star of the show, I went with a delicate word die. Holographic card stock is a great way to play up the shine factor. I used vellum for the shadow so that the words would be more visible, yet still not detract from the background.

That’s it for my card today! I hope it brings a smile to your face. Thank you so much for visiting and let me know in the comments if you have any questions.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
