Hello, Everyone! Today I am sharing a special card that I made for my Mom’s 80th birthday. I didn’t get to be with her on the actual day, but I get to hand-deliver it to her today. It’s a big week, as I am going home to help my parents downsize and move into a wonderful senior community.

Making the Card

I started by stamping the floral image with a very pale ink in my MISTI. I lined up my stencils with the image and colored the flowers and leaves with various shades of yellow, pink and green ink. I then put the colored image back into my MISTI and re-stamped it with Versamark ink so that I could heat emboss it with the gold embossing powder. I had left the stamp in the MISTI in its original position so that I could do this. I then cut out the image with the matching die.

I used this same floral image and coloring technique on a recent slimline card, and although this image is perfect for slimline, I wanted to make this one a 5×7 card. I took a piece of white card stock and ran it through my die cutting machine in the argyle embossing folder. This embossing folder was just perfectly sized to be able to emboss the front panel of my card. I then cut my floral image into three separate pieces and played around with the arrangement until I was happy with the look. I layered the three pieces to give the card dimension by use a few different thicknesses of foam tape.

I used the birthday wishes die and cut it once out of gold card stock and once out of white card stock. I layered the gold on top of the white to give it dimension and then adhered the sentiment to the panel. After adhering the panel to a 5×7 white card base, I finished the card by adding some colored jewels both on and around the flowers.

And that’s it for my card today. I think my Mom is really going to love it – at least I hope she does! Thank you so much for joining me today.

Wishing you all a crafty day!

Allison
